Community Innovations’ operations are routinely surveyed by government agencies and the company itself to assure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations:

  • All ICF/IDD facilities are surveyed at least annually by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) under stringent federal certification standards. Over 300 specific standards are reviewed in each survey.
  • Our residences with 3 or more beds are licensed annually by the NC Division of Facilities Services to assure structural and living area safety and surveyed at least annually by the DHSR for programmatic fidelity.
  • Our MCO customer agencies conduct reviews and audits to ensure compliance with state and MCO standards of patient care, staff qualifications and resident satisfaction.
  • Staff members are required to have appropriate professional and/or educational credentials consistent with their responsibilities in order to be hired and retained.
  • All services we provide are reviewed by the MCOs prior to authorization to do so. All services are certified as medically necessary by a licensed physician.
  • The Council on Accreditation of Residential Facilities (CARF) reviews the company’s policies, management, finances and treatment regimens at least every three years using accepted industry quality standards.
  • CI’s Compliance staff performs daily reviews of MCO service authorizations, resident medical charts, employee time sheets and billing documents to ensure that all match and that federal and state regulations are followed.
  • CI’s Quality Management staff surveys residents, guardians and employees to highlight results achieved and improvements needed.
  • CI’s management reviews financial results and company communications to ensure we are all on “the same page”.
  • Company managers and clinicians participate on MCO provider committees and maintain professional certifications through continued education.
